MAMP PRO - Cloud

Note: To use the cloud features, you must first select a cloud provider. To do this, click on the “Cloud” entry in the “Settings” section of the sidebar.

Hosts can be saved to and loaded from the cloud. MAMP PRO will save both your document root folder and database data. Your data for each individual host will be saved in a single zip file in your Dropbox or OneDrive. It is not necessary to install Dropbox or OneDrive software to use this feature, you only need a login to your Dropbox or OneDrive account through the MAMP PRO interface cloud settings.

If you are using one or more databases for your selected host and you want them to be transferred to the cloud as well, these databases must be associated to the host. You can do this on the Databases tab.

  • Cloud provider
Here you will see the cloud provider you have selected.

    • Choose…
Clicking this button will take you directly to the cloud settings where you can select your cloud provider.
  • Last saved to Cloud
Here you can see the date and time when you last transferred your data to the cloud.

  • Last loaded from Cloud
Here you can see the date and time when you last transferred data from the cloud to your local host.

  • Save to Cloud
By clicking this button, the data (files, folders, databases) of the selected host are collected in a zip file. If you have specified in the cloud settings that encryption should be applied, the data will be encrypted when the zip file is created and the file will have the extension “.encryptedzip”. Afterwards the created ZIP file is uploaded to the cloud. This can take some time, depending on the file size.

  • Load from Cloud
Clicking this button will download the ZIP file containing the data (files, folders, databases) of the selected host from the cloud. This may take some time, depending on the file size. Afterwards it will be unzipped. If the data is encrypted, it will be decrypted during the unpacking process. Afterwards the data of the selected host will be replaced with the data downloaded from the cloud.

Please note that this process cannot be undone. To be on the safe side, you should have a current backup or you could do a “Save to Desktop” before loading data from the cloud.

  • Delete from Cloud
Here you have the possibility to delete all data of the selected host from the cloud. The cloud data will be lost to all computers using it. Files can only be recovered via the versioning functions of your cloud provider. Local data remains unchanged.

  • Resolve Name Change
If you have the same host on two Macs and exchange data via the cloud, it should of course also be possible to change the name of the host. By such a change, the ZIP file in the cloud will of course also get a different name. On the second Mac, after changing the name of the host on the first Mac, you will be notified of this change. The following message is displayed:

MAMP PRO - Cloud - Resolve Name Change

Here you can either change the name of the ZIP file in the cloud to match the host name or change the name of the host to match the name in the cloud.
