MAMP PRO - Cloud

Note: To use the cloud features, you must first select a cloud provider. To do this, click on the “Cloud” entry in the “Settings” section of the sidebar.

Hosts can be backed up and restored from the cloud. MAMP PRO will store both your document root folder and database data. Your data for each individual host is stored in a single zip file in your Dropbox or OneDrive. It is not necessary to install Dropbox or OneDrive software to use this feature, you just need to login to your Dropbox or OneDrive account through the MAMP PRO interface Cloud Settings.

If you are using one or more databases for your selected host and you want to transfer them to the cloud as well, these databases need to be associated with the host. You can do this in the Databases tab.

  • Cloud Provider
Here you can see the cloud provider you have selected.

    • Select….
Clicking this button will take you directly to the Cloud Settings where you can select your cloud provider.
  • Last saved to cloud
Here you can see the date and time when you last saved your data to the cloud.

  • Last loaded from cloud
Displays the date and time when you last transferred data from the cloud to your local host.

  • Used Cloud Space Here you can see how much space your host’s data is using in the cloud.

  • Save to Cloud
Clicking this button will zip the data (files, folders, databases) of the selected host. If you have specified that encryption should be used in the Cloud settings, the data will be encrypted when the ZIP file is created and the file will have the extension “.encryptedzip”. The created ZIP file is then uploaded to the cloud. This may take some time depending on the size of the file.

  • ** Download from Cloud**
Clicking this button will download the ZIP file containing the data (files, folders, databases) of the selected host from the cloud. This may take some time depending on the size of the file. It will then be unzipped. If the data is encrypted, it will be decrypted during the unpacking process. The data on the selected host will then be replaced with the data downloaded from the cloud.

Note that this process cannot be undone. To be on the safe side, you should have a recent backup or perform a “Save to Desktop” before loading data from the cloud.

  • ** Delete from Cloud**
Allows you to delete all data from the selected host from the cloud. The cloud data will be lost on all computers using it. Files can only be recovered using your cloud provider’s versioning capabilities. Local data will remain unchanged.

  • ** Resolve Name Change**
If you have the same host on two Macs and exchange data via the cloud, you should be able to change the name of the host. If you do this, the ZIP file in the cloud will be renamed as well. When you change the name of the host on the first Mac, you will be notified of the change on the second Mac. You will see the following message:

MAMP PRO - Cloud - Resolve Name Change

Here you can either change the name of the ZIP file in the cloud to match the host name, or change the name of the host to match the name in the cloud.

  • Save to Desktop
Clicking this button collects the data (files, folders, databases) of the selected host into a ZIP file. If you have specified that encryption should be used in the cloud settings, the data will be encrypted when the zip file is created and the file will have the extension “.encryptedzip”. The ZIP file will then be placed on your Desktop.

  • Download to Desktop
Clicking this button will download the ZIP file containing the data (files, folders, databases) of the selected host from the cloud. This may take some time depending on the size of the file. It will then be unzipped. If the data is encrypted, it will be decrypted during the unpacking process. The ZIP file will then be placed on your Desktop.

  • Current Activity Status
As soon as an action of the cloud functionality is running, its status is displayed in this area.
