The “Media Player” can play various audio and video formats. The corresponding files can either be stored directly in the appdoo project or loaded from the Internet.
The following file formats are supported:
To show the properties of the Media Player, click the Properties tab (the slider icon) in the upper right sidebar.
Here you give the element a name. This name is only used within appdoo. For example, you can quickly see in the outline where each Media Player is located. You can also edit the name by double-clicking on the Media Player in the outline. We recommend that you assign unique names when working with Layout Constraints and Data Links.
Here you can choose whether you want to select a file (audio, video) directly from your appdoo project (local) or play a file (audio, video) from a URL from the Internet (remote).
If you have selected the “local” option from the selectbox, a multiline selection field with the files (audio, video) of your project is displayed below the selectbox. Select a file by clicking on the corresponding entry. The selected entry is shown inverted.
If you have selected the option “remote” from the selectbox, a multiline input field “URL” is displayed below the selectbox. Here you enter the URL of the file (audio, video). Make sure that the URL always starts with “http://” or “https://”.
Select this checkbox to display the controls for the media player in the iOS app.
Activate this checkbox to start playback immediately when the screen is displayed.
Activate this checkbox to restart playback at the end.
Activate this checkbox if you don’t want playback to stop when leaving the app. This is only effective for audio files and streams.
Here you have the possibility to start and stop the playback of the Media Player within appdoo.
Here you define the background color of your Media Player.
If you activate the “Hidden” checkbox, your Media Player will still be present on your work space, but will not be displayed. This can be useful, for example, if you only want to display the Media Player under certain circumstances. You can control this via the “Hidden” field in the “Data Links” area.
